Stick to Stand - Furniture Height Measuring System
The Stick-to-Stand system
Stick-to-Stand enables you or your staff to correctly set a range of furniture, after one simple measurement of a person's lower leg length while they are seated.
With this easy-to-use measuring system, you’ll quickly and accurately measure the height to set a bed, chair or other equipment for each individual—then record the RIGHT height for each patient in a way that can't be ignored.
See how easily it works:
1. Get the person to sit down and place their bare feet flat on the floor

2. Make sure their knee forms a 90-degree angle

3. Use the Stick-to-Stand to measure from floor to knee crease. Record this information on one of the equipment record forms, provided as part of the system

4. Use the Stick-to-Stand to check height of the seat, bed or equipment they will use. Record this information on the equipment record form

5. Adjust the chair, bed or equipment to the height indicated by the Stick-to-Stand

6. Attach a blue tag to the bed so that the tag just touches the floor

7. Use a Biro to write the person's name on a fresh yellow plastic tape to hang the tag from

8. When the height of the bed is altered, the dark blue tag with the person's name will allow it to be correctly adjusted again for that person
Working with elderly people? Falls and the subsequent injuries that go along with them are a constant worry—for you as a carer and for your older patients.
The greatest "danger" area for falls is around beds, chairs, toilets, shower chairs—any furniture that requires older people to move (either assisted or independently) from a sitting to a standing position.
It’s long been thought that this was simply due to the frailty that comes with age.
But new insights into older people’s mobility has shown that often it’s the height of the bed, chair or other furniture that causes falls—which is why Compact offers you this simple solution to help you identify, control and correctly modify the height of furniture to suit your individual patients.
